This photograph was taken in January 2011 in Venice Beach, California. I had just recently moved to California from Europe and was exploring Los Angeles with a friend. We were walking down the beach when I noticed these lifeguard cabins all lined up in a neat row. While the rule of thirds is quite a known rule in photography, I love the symmetry of this photograph and decided against cropping it another way. I processed it with a texture to give it a more painterly feel. I actually have a large canvas of this image hanging in our living room and a lot of people have asked me if this was a painting. I hope you’ll love this image as much as I do. It’s perfect as a very large statement piece above your couch. It can also brighten up your bathroom with a unique shower curtain, or take it to the pool with this fun beach towel.
