This photograph was taken at the Los Angeles arboretum. I’ve always wanted to photograph peacocks with their feathers wide open. I love their beautiful blue and green colors and they just look so majestic. I researched where I could find peacocks roaming around freely, then rented a lens specifically for the occasion and made the 1 hour drive to the arboretum. I was a bit nervous that I would come home without any good images as I read that peacocks don’t always open their feathers. But just as I was paying the entrance fee, I saw this beautiful peacock right in the middle of the entrance path, feathers wide open. I got my camera ready and started shooting. He just proudly spun around for a good 10 minutes before leaving. I basically got what I wanted as soon as I entered the arboretum but obviously still spent a few hours walking around and exploring the grounds. I highly recommend a visit if you are local, it’s a beautiful arboretum with a lot of peacocks roaming the area.
I love making color palettes from my photographs as inspiration for other projects I may have. Nature is just amazing and all colors mix together wonderfully. I hope you can also find some inspiration from this color palette and may also use it for your own projects or home decor needs.
